Anyone here have any idea of how many Holden sixes were inflicted with that horrid Lucas dissy? I can remember only one, a HJ Premier as a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice. By then I was experienced with the Bosch, pulled the cap on the Lucas and went WTF?
On of the older mechanics told me that a few Red motors were stuck with them. It's the only one I've ever seen. Circa 1980. |
Attn camry drivers. The accelerator is the skinny pedal on the right. |

Lucas distributors appeared in HD & were last fitted to HJ. I've seen quite a few, more in HR than any other model series, for some strange reason.
In my opinion they were rubbish compared to the Bosch. Any car I owned with one, soon got a Bosch dissy in its place.

Dr Terry So what we had was some Lucas dizzy's from HD to HJ or all were Lucas in them years ? I never seen a problem with any HR, HK, HG, HQ, HJ, HX dizzy I owned ever. My dad had a new HR and the mechanic would service it would pull the Dizzy out and totally pull it apart, clean and all, never seen that done in any other service Station service. you Grease what needs to and a drop of oil on the felt pad at the top of the shaft, made sure all was sliding as it should and then you check the vacuum advance works fine and bingo. If the points do not last then that is another issue that causes such.
