I guess everyone read about the Picardy Red GTS327 which was auctioned at Bundaberg
last Saturday 28 May 2022? They say it was part of a deceased estate sale. The car
was once owned by a cane farmer who lived on the outskirts of Bundaberg QLD. The auction
was well attended by locals, many of whom remembered seeing the car around town in the
early days. Some say the owner used to drive the car up and down the canefields to check
on the irrigation equipment.
It was Picardy Red with 10X black interior. It once had a vinyl roof (which wasn't mentioned
on the body plate). The vinyl roof mouldings were in place but the vinyl had disappeared. I'm
guessing it would have been black vinyl originally. Engine was second type with RH alternator.
It seemed to be one of the later ones produced at Acacia Ridge.
It sold for $200K plus 10% buyer's premium which was way too expensive for me. The buyer said he
was from Sunshine Coast and appeared to be a collector. The car had a lot of cancer. Nearly all
lower panels were full of holes. The boot lid and RHF guard were pretty knocked around but other
panels fairly straight. I think someone has a big job ahead to repair all that rust!!
