Hi I have a holden 186 it has been bored out and has 40 thou piston as it is stamped on them does anyone know what size rings I should be using as the parts fella at the auto store sold me 40thou rings as he just looked at the piston I took in is this correct or should he have gave me bigger sized rings as I know a standard bore is 3.625 I'm not a mechanic but thought the rings on a bigger piston would give it a to larger ring gap is this so any information would be much appreciated thanks Regards Andrew Edited by user Sunday, 16 October 2022 4:50:30 PM(UTC)

You want 40 thou over 186 or 202 rings. Assuming the bores can be re-used. You'll have to get them measured and honed. If they are too worn you'll need to bore it tp 60 thou over and get new pistons and rings. |
