I’m hoping someone on this forum can tell me the estimated daily body production in the second half of 1969 at the Elizabeth Plant please.

Thanks

I asked Stewy Underwood your question.

"I remember it vividly. The scheduled body production was 240 bodies per day - but it was seldom achieved! Twice I think ! Averaged about 220 per day. Lots of breakdowns. Mainly in the Paint shop. We used to work overtime once a fortnight to catch up. Maybe 4 hours one night per fortnight or even a whole 8 hour shift in the occasional month. I know cos I used to score a job on the line in either the Body, Paint or Trim Assembly shops. . . . . . Only half of those bodies became complete vehicles in Elizabeth. The rest were shipped out by rail to Sydney, Perth or Brisbane to be completed. Not sure about Melbourne."

Dandenong too, that VAP assembled Elizabeth bodied HK vans and LC Torana. Woodville bodies also used Elizabeth body numbers.
