Someone has cut and shut it to change it into HJ-HZ sedan tail-lights. All HJ-HZ Holden retained HQ tail-lights. Only sedan changed. The 600 body shells you are talking about weren't HQ, they were HJ. In late 1975 GMH turned the remaining 600 HJ coupe panel sets into bodies in white. Some were used for HJ LS or GTS in 1976 and the rest were intended to be HJ LE coupe. But that LE got badly delayed and HX appeared. They had to gas axe the HJ firewalls out and replace with HX. You could fix that HJ and turn it back into a proper HJ coupe back end, but you'll have to scavenge to get the right parts off another HQ -HX coupe to fix it. Finding a HJ or HX coupe rear bar will be hard as they are different to HQ. You said it is L31 M41. It will be one of 230 HJ GTS L31 M41 or rarer still, way less than 100 HJ LS (there were 106 L31 HJ LS not sure of the split M41 to M21). HJ coupe is a very rare car to find today. I've been collecting ID tags off one of every sports model GMH vehicle built from 1968 to 1980 and all I'm missing is HJ coupe, HZ Sandman, HB Brabham and LH Plus4. The rarest HJ coupe is HJ LS 6cyl, only 81 of those. The most common is HJ GTS with L31. Be careful what is missing too. Some of the stainless and glass will cost you more than the car is worth. Regulators can be fixed but you need the originals to fix. Front seats are hard to find. And the rear bar as I said. Doors are impossible to buy so make sure they aren't too badly rotted. No its not a project, the thing is near show car quality inside and out, gets driven around the block twice a year then hidden under a tarp. Only thing out of place from stock is a stupid b@m shifter and t350 trans. he said the previous owner dumped the t400 in favour of a t350 and the linkage is on the wrong side for the stock shifter.
Im normally into jap turbo cars so this old holden stuff is a learning curve, can only tell you what he told me about that part.
Being cut up but 100% complete in mint condition could you throw out an estimation of value? Is it even worth buying? Im a bit of a collector with quite a few jap turbo cars, this one appeals because its totally different to the others i have

No idea. It’d wreck out to good $ though so that is your starting point.
TH350 and TH400 use the same shifter.
