I heard Holden wanted to sell the Opel Tigra as the Holden Barina Tigra in 1995, but for some reason the project was dropped in favor of Barina Cabrio. Is this true or just rumors? Edited by user Wednesday, 5 April 2023 2:58:55 AM(UTC)

That may well be true, I seem to remember GMH showing one of these at a motor show in the late 90s.
We would have got the Vauxhall (RHD) version as we did for all of the other Euro Holdens.
It probably came down to cost in the end. It would've been a lot cheaper to get HSV to cut the roof of a stock 2-door cheapy, rather than import a fully built convertible from Europe.

Thank, Dr Terry. I know Holden was selling the Gen 2 Tigra (TwinTop), but was surprised when found that GMH wanted to sell the Gen 1 as well.
