G'day everyone
I am new to the forum and I'm wondering if someone can help me. I am trying to locate a GMH toolbox similar to one my uncle had (was sadly thrown out when he died).
It was about 16 inches inches long by 8.5 wide and 12 inches deep and was painted olive drab with ribs. What would I roughly expect to pay for something like this?

That's a new one on me, never seen or heard of one. Do you have any other info or pics.

Dr Terry it is what the maintenance fitters were given from the tool crib when they were sent out to fix say something like the face hobbing machines (used to cut hypoid gear sets.. aka ring and pinion set for rear axles) when they break down or require a tool change |

I remember the top said something like GMH WS and the year was stamped on it - sometime in the 40s. Oh and a D-up arrow-D. Any ideas of worth? If I find any pic I will post.

D arrow D is Dept. of Defence I believe.
Maybe GM bought surplus WWII stuff for the machine shops ...

(and something I never thought 40 years later would be of interest) just something I saw working in /walking thru the various 'mechanical production' plants at FB during my years at GMH when us Finance guys did the weekly pay run to each plant (we paid the plant employees in cash with pay envelopes in a cash drawer we collected from Payroll) we were escorted by security and then locked  in the tool crib until all envelopes had been collected (and any not collected, we advised the 'Pay number' aka employee payroll number to the leading hand or shift supervisor before talking the cash drawer back to payroll) the maintenance fitters of course had to wait until 'pay time' was over and were let in ....as we were let out to be escorted back to the Pay office Edited by user Sunday, 23 April 2023 7:53:11 PM(UTC)

Andrew. actually no I reckon! .... most people forget that GM Australia built war equipment (tooled up and said hey we can build these trucks,field guns, howitzers etc) during WW2 and worked closely with both the US and Australian Armies this at Woodville  |
