I can tell you that when I had a V2 a few I looked at had HBD plates on them for certain stuff like the rear wing (hence why I walked away from those as it cost money to remove and replace/paint the boot lid). I'm pretty sure a few 2004/5 Cross8 alos had HBD plates on them when I bought one of those too. Never looked after VZ as nothing interested me, too many doors and IRS on utes so useless for my purpose.

This is a good question.

I believe it must be around 2006/7.

I have a few late VZ brochures (2006) which still specify HBD. Having said that, VE brochures mention neither HBD or HSVi.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

I also have the 24/7/06 HSVi book, and it lists all the old HBD codes for VZ.

From my collection

Latest HBD 17/3/06

Earliest HSVi 19/10/06
