Be happy to help if required.

I don't accept PM's, any help has to be done via this site. |

Ok no worries, I did try to email as well but not too sure if it went through.. Is there any chance you could help me with some information about my HK Premier? As far as your thoughts on what date it would have been built and if it would have been an original v8? From the information I've found on this site, it seems like an early build, it has a speedo cable hole under the wiper motor, LSD stickers in door jamb and boot? Also a large VH300 brake booster? Not sure if they mean much in regards to an original V8 though.. I can add photos and details if allowed. Any help would be greatly appreciated mate.

The speedo cable hole sounds right for a V8, unless it was a rare 6cyl with heavy duty 4speed manual. The LSD certainly says V8 but not a guarantee. The V8 speedo cable hole normally looks like it was chewed out, the 6cyl one will be there but will have an original speedo cable rubber grommet in it and will be a neat hole.
The VH300 booster is just for a HK with front discs. An early HK will have the BODY ID tag on the firewall and a low chassis number. Dating it might be easy, but could also be hard. Just depends on what BAP and VAP it came out of.
This site has gone stupid with photos, it may not work. Hasn't worked for me for a few months. |

If you can add them to your album you can add album pictures to your posts. I just checked, I can see them. It’s a Pagewood body and assembly. Best guess is May 1968 or thereabouts. It’s the 3522nd HK Premier body assembled in the Pagewood body plant. And the 19503rd HK body out of the same plant. By the first week of July ‘68 the numbers had reached 23000. Get a picture similar to the 6th one but with the camera panned to the right a bit. Geez it’s a roughy though, gunna cost a bomb to restore. Edited by user Friday, 31 May 2024 7:28:51 PM(UTC)

For some reason the files are over 1meg now and it won't upload? I'm trying different options.. what part did you need to see exactly so I can zoom in?
It's not as bad as it appears actually. It has been painted over in thick brown paint before it was left in a paddock and its protected it a fair bit! Boot and floors are pretty good, quarters and left sill needs work. But I love the colour combo and if I build it as a v8 that's a bigger bonus.

As you can see its had the wiper motor area of the firewall cut out for some silly reason. Also part of the trans tunnel has been cut for a floor shift manual I'm guessing..

I've just added a couple more pictures. I have read that there can be some sort of dating on the steering column? If this is true, where am i meant to look exactly?

Last photo now on the first page, need a photo to the right of what you can see in that image, from the same perspective.
Body might be OK but finished it’s going to cost twice what it’s worth! You’ll find a car ready to use for half what that is going to cost you to build.
You can find date codes all over the cars but it’s when the parts were made not the car.

Sorry i'm really struggling to take screenshots with low enough quality to be able to upload.. try that now.
I was going to do a lot of the metal work myself and i have a good friend who will prep and paint the car. I thought good ones were up to $80k? Is this colour combo rare or desired? I haven't seen any for sale while I've been looking the last few months, that's all. I'm very new to these models though!

I also have a 307 block with numbers 30717###. Is there anyway to tell if this is around the May 68 that you mentioned the car would approximately be?

30717 will be from the last months of HK out of a Pagewood car. If it’s close enough to 18000 it may even be a HT engine. |

I haven't seen any for sale while I've been looking the last few months, that's all. I'm very new to these models though! No good, not taken from the angle I said. Good cars are $80K but they are original and complete. You are talking about building a car with nothing matching and no provenance. That is quickly going to cost you a lot and lot of time. Not saying it can’t be done and it’s not worth doing it. Just everything you need to buy is going to be well over $25k and that is without spending a cent on resto work or labour. All the paint products alone will run into $1000’s. There is a lot of hours in panel prep and paint. If you want to build it you are better off not paying the “original or period correct” game and building it modified. Will cost you less, take far less time and probably be a nicer car to drive. Think injected engine, overdrive auto, better brakes etc. Edited by user Friday, 31 May 2024 9:34:04 PM(UTC)

Oh OK, what were the last months of Hk? It's pretty much half way to the 18000.. What would be the number range I should be searching for to suit May 1968?

Sorry, which particular area do you need to see, from the brake booster side?
