Just wanting to settle an argument, do newer vehicles need time to warm up from cold? Or are they just turn key and go?. Vehicle in question is a 07 Holden rodeo v6 petrol

With modern oils & EFI engine management etc, the general consensus is that no it is not necessary for any prolonged warm-up period these days.
In my car, I start the engine as soon as I get into the car. By the time I've fitted my seatbelt, adjusted any mirrors or windows, the engine idle has normalised, the dash has done all of its checks & the gauges have settled, I release the handbrake put the shifter into Drive & take off. Probably 15-20 secs "warm-up".
Older cars, with carburettors & manual chokes are a different story however.
