Could someone please tell me the correct part number for a factory standard 2 barrel stromberg carby as fitted to a 1972 HQ SS.
I am restoring my SS and I have several Stromberg carbies laying around which will fit, but I want to be sure I have the correct item before I send one away to be reconditioned.

Ok its not a 71 its a 73 Prem but its a start OK ? My carb has or had on it the following 23 3063 and under that was 3 28

Mine has similar numbers.
The one I think is the HQ one has 23 3086 and 3 28.
The one I think is possibly HJ has 23 3112 and 8 23

Hi Guys.
It depends if it's a '1st Run' or '2nd Run' HQ SS. There was a change of carby in late Oct'72. The earlier carb for an HQ 253 manual is the 23-3046, & the later carb (Nov '72 onwards) is the 23-3064.

These are all very intresting numbers but to they mean anything besides the car they came off? Is it related to the introduction of pollution control or jet/venturi size? I have looked at the numbers on single and duel throats an put them down to where th |

the code number gives the vehicle it came off - the 23 is Holden, the rest allows you to look up main jet, idle air bleed etc. A 23-201A&B is 186S Manual, a 23-202A&B is 186S Auto. Does anyone have info on the 23-3098? Edited by user Sunday, 26 June 2005 8:22:25 AM(UTC)

You could try a half decent carby shop..they may have a list of build types/numbers....john

Hi Guys.
All the carbies made by Bendix Stromberg use these code numbers & like any part number they refer to the unit when it was made new & what its application is. Every time there was a change to jetting or venturi size, linkage or anti-pollution g |

My SS is a first series SS built in August 72 so at least I know exactly what carby I should be looking for.

23-3064 is correct for a late 72 as my SS has one and is 11/72 build.
