I own a HT Belmont ute and My dad and I are currently doing it up. I have purchased a 179hp engine which i will get some work done to it. Then when i get to my opens i would like to put a work up 350 chevy in it. I also argu with my dad who says a work up six with a bolt on supercharger, good head, holley carb, good cam etc would be better for fuel economy and would go just as hard as a 350 chevy. I also have been told that doing up red sixes is a waste of time and money and are very unreliable when putting out big horse power.
Would some one be able to help me out.
Thanx Zac

i think both options are good, but the 6 with a supercharger will be lighter than a 350,power to weight, but also you need to look at the cost difference(budget)and what the car is going to be used for e.g daily driver or sunday driver, good luck.gts082.

The money spent on red 6 with a supercharger won't give the power per dollar spent on a 350 chev. These models were built to take small block chevs, although a tough s/c 6 would be nice, as well as possibly easier on fuel, the V8 will last a lot longer wi

Two suggestions:

1. A VN V6. Will outdo most stock carbied 308's.

2. A 283 or 307 Chev. These little beauties are great in a Holden, and are normally a lot better than a 308. Plus the 307 is standard in a HT. A 283 or 307 with alloy valley, baby 4BB
