G'day Dr., In another thread (2 carby questions) you said to try the 360 jet and check the EGR Valve, well mine doesnt have one because it has extractors, and its still pinging with the 360 in it, what I need to know is do those water injection systems work well in this situation, I have been told that they cool the inflowing gases similar to an EGR valve, or do I need to do something else? any advice is greatly appreciated, as this is annoying me even though its not too bad and mainly at highway speeds (90 and over)or under heavy acceleration, I'm running on PULP, with a regraphed dizzy and have checked for air leaks, and couldnt find any, so I'm pretty sure its carby related, but I have been known to be wrong before!!! thanks. Russ.

is the timing right? you cant take the reading from the balancer as gosple as the outer part of the ballancer can slip giving the wrong imformation.
bring it around to TDC on #1 and see if the line on the ballancer lines up with the mark on the timing

Hi Russ.
Dylan is correct, the initial timing is critical & if the harmonic balancer is out, everything will be out.
When you asked the original question you didn't give all the info, about the extractors & no EGR valve etc, you didn't mention what |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Dylan is right in that the balancer can slip. I have just replaced the Balancer on my Chev, and found the timing indicated shifted by 10 degrees.
What I was actually doing for the most part in any case was using the timing marks as a guide. When putt |
