G'day All,
I noticed yesterday that when I press the accelerator, with the engine off, petrol runs out of the carby somewhere, onto the heatshield and sits in a puddle, its not as though I did it heaps of times and flooded it or anything, I only did it once, it looks to me as though it is coming out of the end of the throttle butterfly shaft, but it is hard to tell, if so is this a big problem and is it easy to rectify? can this shaft be rebuilt or somethig? I recently put a kit through the carby, but that was mainly only O-rings and gaskets, is there a more advanced kit that addresses worn shafts or something? any help appreciated. Thanks.
Russ.

P.S. its a 202 with standard stromberg.

Hi Guys.

Bendix-Strombergs have done this since JC was a boy. As a matter of fact most downdraught carbies will do it if you press the accellerator with the motor not running.

It only happens because when you press the accellerator the pump squirts
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

thank god (or DrT) for that, i have a rebuilt stromberg which does exactly that (leak) when you hit the accelerator with the engine off. I also have tried a stromberg (?) off a vc and it also leaked a bit when doing the same thing after i put a new kit th
