We have a conversion lined up for next week at work.
Customer has a VR V6 auto, and he wants a VR V8 auto put into it.
What are the problems we are going to encounter "wiring wise"?
Obviously V8 engine loom and computer are going into the car, but what happens regarding the BCM?
Does this have to be changed, and if so, I assume we will need to also need to change the under dash loom.
What happens regarding the ignition key?
As far as I know, the anti theft system needs to "recognise" the key before you can start the car.

Also.....What is the sensor on a V6 engine on the timing cover just above the harmonic balancer....it appears that only Calais' have this particular sensor (info needed for another VR V6 swap over....standard V6 eng coming out, and V6 Calais eng going in).

If it's going into a VP or manual VR, just don't bother about it, as the manual & pre-VR looms have no plug for it.

If you go the other way - fit a VR PCM & loom, and have a motor tha

In stock (Non HSV) VR & VS the front brakes are the same between V6 & V8.

You do need to change the crossmember over, as they are unique to the motor.

The V8 springs are a little stiffer than V6.

The original steering rack can stay in the car, bu
