hi guys
the problem with the car is that it is stcuk in 3rd gear and doesn't change at all, this is the only prob it doesn't slip or anything its just stuck in 3rd lol.
details for car
1999 VT commodore acclaim
auto, 3.8 v6
hope someone has an idea

Stuck in 3rd is the default mode for "limp home" when there is a gearbox fault.
You're best off putting the car in diagnostic mode, and reading any error codes that come up, and it may help ppinpoint the issue.

speedo still works with out prob
i have dash lights come all the time (pretty much all except the fuel and seatbelt lights)
diagnostic mode??????????

take it to Holden and they will do a "system" check.
if there is a fault with the gearbox that has forced it into "limp home mode" then it will show on the diagnostics.
the gearboxes are full of electronics, for pressure, shifts, clutch lock up's etc et
