I need to replace my Bosch alternator. Iss it best replacing it with an internally regulated one wire alternator? is the only draw back with this is that the alt light wont work? aparently if i want another external reulated alt i need to replace the regulator so it matches the alt.

Ryan, can you get your old alterantor rebuilt? From memory the factory Bosch unit in the 351s is a 55 amp job. Considered pretty big in the 70s but now quite small compared to even the 4 cyl jobs. If you're running quartz headlights, decent stereo or

my orignal alt is actually broken, shaft snapped in half! so will a 3 wire internally regulated alt be hard to wire in? on the xa the alt light is wired in differently (not just off an "i" point on the regulator). it is wired through the D+ terminal i thi

I know that the later model alternators can be wired in. I've seen it done but not done it myself. My mate had it done in his XB GT. I'll send him off an email asking for wiring directions. Paul,

thanks, any help would be great. i think i leaning towards a one wire alt at this stage, i think if i install a 3 wire i have to run new wiring to the alt light anyway to make it work.

I had to re wire my EB2 a little when I changed it from a Mitsubishi alternator to a Bosch. The three wires are just main (the thick one) & field (just wire it up to your existing field wire & remove the existing regulator & join it's 2 wires togetherso t
