1258 is the combination number for Kingston cream with ermine white roof, the reason you have not got these combination numbers Byron is that the only Monaro with two tone was HZ. These combination numbers exist for all external colour combinations.

yup clear as mud... But thanks for all the infoByron and Warren, I had a (quick) look on the steering box and column this morning but found no numbers, are they cast or stamped, which angle should I be looking?

Front left hand corner, stamped into the alloy, adjacent to the cast cover plate 9about 7mm high characters). On the column its yellow or white paint on the firewall side of the plate that bolts the column to the firewall (about 20mm high characters). If

If the box or column are original then they are within the ballpark of your build date, ie within a week or two, normally even closer. When you look closely you find these codes all over the car. Just remember that on the US sourced parts and on pre-1972

Brisbane (Acacia Ridge) built HT 6cyl Belmont ute - as far as the plates are concerned. Body is a Dandenong (Melbourne) body. This means either its been rebodied, or the shell was constructed in Brisbane and the car put together in Melbourne. Will check f

Mate thanks for the info already,that would be great if you could check for me. Another question for you is i have a premier front end on should it have that or has the previous owners befor me added it on? did you have any idea on the paint codes at all?

1174 is Pinaroo beige. 12A is Morocco red vinyl, bench seat.

Shane, your depiction of the chassis number threw me. HT80180M is the body number, which also happens to be a valid chassis number for a Melbourne HT (albeit probably a bit high) . As a body number it means:

HT - HT
8 - Holden
01 - 6cyl Belmont
80 -

Is any of the code data available on the web or in a book somewhere readily available? Would be quite handy to be able to look up the codes of your car on the net, with a database, expert system or the like.
