I have a transmission that was given to me with my car. The car is an XC falcon but it does not have a transmission (or engine) in it yet. The engine I am putting in is a 351 Cleveland. I'd like to identify the transmission and decide if it is suitable for the engine etc. I've written down all part numbers I can find on the casing. Please if anyone can tell me what type it is from the numbers I would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance:

first thing I would do is check that the bell housing is the same bolt pattern as the block that means gererally you should either have a C4 or a FMX I'm not 100% could be a borgwaner 35 but that was more for an earlier models, either fmx or c4 are good.

If the tranny has been sitting around you are going to have to get it reconditioned anyway. Should be able to get an exchange one somewhere.
