Yes folks, og standard HQ's arent that fast after the first 20 metres, but they sure make XR8s look pretty stupid as they gun it past 80kmh and hour in a 60 zone. I think this tool was tryin to drag me or something! LOL. A 2.78 with 253 and Stromy can only do so much. I waved as he went off into the distance, me doing 60kmh and him shaking his fist. What a laugh. Most fun I have had in ages. Must find another Ford/Fard/Fart to play with.

It must be the twin pipes and burble of a real V8 that got his feromones racing !

Cheers John

I have a set of lights near my place that I regularly use. It's on an uphill incline, and I always turn left - using the left one of the 2 lanes.

You can almost always bet there will be a ricer in the left one on the line - and always wanting to race i

Well said John. Have driven an AU2 and BA XR8 for a work car. BA has improved but the AU was hopeless. New gearbox at 13000 k's, power steering pump at 31000 and again at 32000. New clutch at 55000. Radiator split at 28000. Handled like a buc

You've probably all seen the pages and pages of BS in the AMC magazines about the poor old piece of Ford something or other and it's clutch woes. Ford biased 'historians' also always seem to remember the few good things that Ford did in the muscle car era

I could be called biased as well. Currently have a VZ SS at work and prefer that to the Ford. Slightly harder seats but not too bad a car. Again, I still prefer jumping into my HJ to drive home.

I always get a barrel of laughs jumping off the line, straight to 60, and staying there. (I won't speed.) Ricers think they've got me as they zoom past me at 60, then they realise that I backed off intentionally.

Commodorenut - it's great to see that

The 400sbc torque-tuned in an HQ ute is fun against boy racers. The cam I have in her is a US sourced Crane truck item, rev band 1200-4500. Basically off idle and you are in the cam. I don't know what the top end is like, as 65mph (ish) is the limit.

Yes, XA GT's of both 2 and 4 door variety are cool cars (pity about the rubbish that was built post XA and prior to BA though). If I wasn't into HK Monaros and '57 Chevs I'd probably have a '68 big block Camaro or Challenger/Charger though. I will admit I

Had the same thing happen in a 5L Gemini my friend once had. Look ed like a peice of s****t and in many ways was, but the look on the face of ricers was priceless when their front wheel drive turbos were left at the lights by a brown gemini with 5 people
