This is for Matt (Vintage Cravans) in response to his sig (or anyone else who may be interested).

When I was in Albury yesterday, I saw 4 old vans sitting in a paddock just opposite the airport. I didn't stop to ask if they were for sale, but they look like they've been there for a while....

They seemed to be 70's models to me, but I was about 300 or 400 metres away and I'm no expert on caravans.

They are on the right as you head for Hume Weir and are on the waterworks (or similar) signposted road which runs off the main Hume Weir road. If you get to the left turn to the uni, you have gone too far.

Cheers...Dave

Hi Dave, yep seen those too. They are in various stages of completeness, two appear to be Millard/York style, one is a Franklin, and the other a Viscount (well that's what they look like from that distance), and you're right I would say mid 1970s models.
202 and three on the tree, can't get more Aussie than that!!

Hi Peter,

Yes, it was great to meet you and your family. You are in an absolutely MAGIC spot there. It was just a pity about the bridgework cutting down the available time...

Thanks for the loan of the dogs too mate... :-))

Cheers...Dave

Hi Bruce,

Its only just up the road to a West Aussie...and I miss my kids, so borrowed Peter's secondary kids.

I also stopped at Euroa, Glenrowan and Beechworth. Beechworth is a very pretty little town and the local RAC guy uses an old Maple Leaf tr

Dave....
Look forward to seeing you over here.
I wouldn't be holding my breath to see the progress on the Coupe if I were you....it hasn't changed for well over a year due to other things cropping up.
Just the same as the pics that were up at oldholden

I have an old Aristocrat or Coromal can't remember 15 footer it is aluminium clad and I think has a steel frame as the panels are pop rivetted on.
I have the original licence papers (it is not licenced now) they show it was built 1955 or 56, I would thi

Yep...It was built in the quarry that they got the material for the dam wall from.
Just below the wall.
VERY tight circuit which virtually ran around the base of the quarry.
We used to race there on the holiday weekend at the end of January each year.

Will do so next week when I am at the house.
What are your thoughts on the rarity or otherwise of an aluminium/steel framed van of this vintage (1956)?
