gday,well im going to do it myself,spray my bonnet and scoop and rocker covers,im using a compressor and spray gun,i have bought the paint and thinners,i have lightly sanded all the above,i know to mix 60% thinner & 40% paint.any other tips would be much usefull for me, being a first timer,thanks in advanced.gts082

Hi GTS082,

Go to your nearest wreckers and get an elcheapo panel. Maybe a guard. They are easy to carry. Mix up ur paint and start playing with the air pressure, and all the knobs on the gun. I have no idea what gun or a/c u have. Make sure that when u

Would recommend a bigger flatter piece before you spray the bonnet etc. Get a feel for the paint and gun, and polishing it up afterward.

Three adjustments for the gun pressure amount of paint and width of spray.
Put the width on max and pressure on compressor 50psi. And pressure at gun open max.

hello guys,just to let you know i have sprayed the bonnet and scoop,its not bad for a first timer,i will cut it back with wet & dry p800 then p2000 then i will cut it back with cutting compound then polish,i didnt mind spraying it,anyway i will save some

dont use 800 to cut acrlic back unless you are going to recoat it. just use 1200 and then machine buff it

Some one told me u cant sand with 800 then a higher number and then polish it it wont get as good a shine.
You haev to just sand with 1200 if its acrillic or as i did 1500 and even 2000 with 2k

G'day All,
I might chime in here too as I am a spraypainting novice and am also thinking of respraying my tonner, which has acrylic at the moment, is there something that can be done i.e. sealer or undercoat of some kind that will allow it to be sprayed

hello russ,i had a metallic paint and sprayed over with soild acrylic,all i did was rub it back with 400 and 600 then 1000p wet & dry.it has turn out ok,for someone who doesnot know how to spraypaint.i got some get advice from tcr automotive centre phone
