Sounds like either the starter motor is dead or you have a dead cell in your battery. Also check your earth straps to make sure they are getting a good connection.

I'd give the starter motor solonoid another tap with the hammer. I used to have a car that needed a little love tap from time to time.

Sounds to me like the battery has **** itself.
It is supplying enough to light the dash lights, run the fuel pump etc but not enough to turn the starter.
These symptons are very common with a flat battery (not dead flat though)
Once you get a new batte

when the starter motor goes does it breakdown straight away or will the car just simply turn over slower first when you start it, because thats what happened the day the car wouldnt start...thanks..

Try a new battery. Or get someone to put a battery tester on the car for you. Just be careful jumping the EB. I've been told the computers in them don't like getting a power spike.
