G'Day guys i've got prob in the old hz 308 one tonner.I'm a landscaper so please ignore (forgive) my ignorance;while pulling my fully loaded tandem up a fair hill she got a big miss happening;i took it to the local garage and they did a comp test & found #6 pot down i'm pretty sure he said vertually zero.I brougt her home and took the rocker cover off and found a badly worn rocker arm on exhaust valve, a rounded valve stem, and bent push rod.A bit of background on da block it came from a vk calis was stripped and dipped bored 10 thou with all new bits like flat top pistons, dbl row timing chain, reco quadie vac 780 4barrel,un-sure of cam profile,but was told good for towing and lpg chev HEI dizzy ,2 1/2 mandrel bend extractors but my num nuts off a bro in-law convinced my to re-use the lifters fron the 253 it replaced its done 80k's since rebuild.Oh by the way its a duel fuel(lpg-pulp)runs 90% on barbie fuel &10% on motion lotion .The heads were reco repco {i know Rip Every Poor C**t Off) and cast iron rings.Just trying to get it goin again. any advice would be greatly apreciated. If you have re-used the lifters off the 253, the cam is f%$&ed! You will need a new cam and lifters. And I would also get some new rockers and rocker bridges as well, plus check the pushrods for straightness. Depending upon how far the valve has been held |
