I've a '96el just paid $330 for tune +service, told it idles rough cause of air leak in injectors, had that done, now it stalls on start up.he now says I need 2 replace a.c.v. Knocking is worse than when 1st went in. I have no idea, I'm a women. I only put it in because I wanted it to run better-there wasn't much wrong, now I have all this. Does it sound right? Is it an expensive problem? It only stalls on gas.

You mention hydaulic lifter sticking...don't they have roller rocker overhead cam engines? Is it knocking or just tapping (sound from low in engine or just up top?)
IS knocking on gas or petrol? Does it cease running if you start on fuel and then switch
