With the rise in petrol prices I am curious about the possibility of converting a V8 to run on steam power.
Obviously a lot of items would need converting to steam compatible components but think about it. Gobs full of torque (easily converted to HP), environmentally friendly, output is steam (water)and could be recirculated to increase economy....Will operate on any combustible fuel source, or electronic heating means (eg microwave heating).
Typical steam systems utilise only 1 or 2 dual-acting cylinders and can be a tad on the pulsating side. A V8 would be smoother in operation and possibly be comparable if not much more powerful than a internal combustion engine.
Obviously water capacity and storage would need to be sorted but it is interesting.
Any thoughts?.....Bugger the hydrogen it still pollutes through third party (manufacturing) processes. Water is available just about anywhere and everywhere for nothing.
