Hello Everyone, I have a HQ exchange steering box that I purchased from Emeralds local Auto Pro store, I purchased it about 2 years at the start of my bebuild. I have had it in a air tight container for all that time but when I went to install it on the weekend I find the oil has leaked out of it, what would case this. I've had a look in my Gregorys Holden HQ,HJ Series workshop manual and can't see where it has seals on the Worm Shaft. You always see the steering boxes covered with oil in vehicles that get daily use but surely it should'nt leak out when not getting used. Has anyone had this problem before. Regards Owen and Ned.

The Ellery manual shows seals on both the worm and pitman shafts. Need to pull it apart to change them. Thought the boxes where grease filled, guess heat and time makes it go abit oily.

Forgot, the seals are located 1- just infront of the retainer on worm shaft 2- infront of bottom pitman bearing.
