Just read a post and was wondering what is the correct way to store an engine that may not be going back into a vehicle for a couple of years, so that it stays in a usable condition? And Gearbox?

I've got 2 in storage, and what I've done is pulled out all the plugs, and pumped engine oil into the bores, then rotated it. I then put the plugs back in loosley just with my fingers.

Every couple of months I pull the plugs out, give each bore a litt

here's what NOT to do...;)
i had a 202 i pulled the head off + I let it sit there for only a couple of weeks (without the head or sump on)...and it seized that quickly.

It is also recommended that you tape up the carby inlet and the exhaust outlets.

This should stop any internal corrosion.

Ive used a special engine preserving oil in a couple of industrial gas engines at work. It slowly evaporates and coats the internals. Goes in the usual places, sump, piston liners etc. Use tape to seal the exhaust and intake. Its like an additive to the e
