G'day All,

This is the first time back to the site for nearly 3 weeks, THANKS TO SOME A***HOLE P*ICK COMPUTER VIRUS WRITER !!!! dont people have anything better to do than cause problems for other people for no other reason that I can see other than them being a **ckwad with no life and a small d*ck, if I ever meet someone who has written one of those insidious things, I will castrate him on the spot with a very blunt knife just so they cant breed anymore stupidity into the human race than already exists!!!!!

did any body get the feeling I am pissed off?

Russ.

Use anti virus software. I use Zone Alarm which is free off the net which is a firewall to keep the bad guys out. Then i use spybot search and destroy and ad-aware to rinse out cookies and bad files.

All these combined keep the gremlins at bay so far.

Nortons 2000 range is cr*p. I had it and yes I got virussed too. Thats why I went to McAfee. Also the email product in Norton will slow your PC down heaps, as you email are filtered by a US web site.

As for Zone Alarm. The free web product is good and

Oh, and pop ups are usually caused by 'free' software you have downloaded! They claim its free but they fill it with the BS pop-up ad junk, ie GAIN, SaveNow etc.. You can usually get rid of the sponsor stuff by removing it, either in Add/Remove Programs (

G'day All,
Thanks for the advice, but I will stick with a good quality one like Norton or McAfee, because those free ones are only good to a point, but try getting rid of them!! I have had no end of trouble in the past after deleting Zonealarm and Sygate

Try Registry Mechanic ,it restores the registry where most of the sneaky bits function from. Alos run AVG and Tiny Personal Firewall.
Google will stop popups if you have it on your home page thing but don't click on the super version go the anonymous one

You can do this in later versions of windows as well. It involves booting to the setup cd, and entering recovery mode. Several times. It's a bit touchy, and you've really gotta be comfortable in a restricted dos-like environment, but it can be done. S

Yeah virus' what a nightmare, had one not too long ago, took me thre days to sort it out. Now I run AVG antivirus this is free and spyware free and auto updates, spybot and spysweeper plus adaware. These should clear your pop ups as well.

as SM308 does, use sybot as well as ad-aware as they both pickup on different nasties every time, but they sometimes don't like each other and will even ask to block one another, so only run one at a time. as usual, update often!
