Just wondering whick crank is better to use? Red some say because its pre polution. blue/black others say as they are better balanced. Whats your thoughts, ideas or options.

I was under the impression that the blue/black cranks were heavier & stronger but the red cranks were lighter and therefore revved up quicker...

Spot on. A red 202, given the same rest of the motor, will rev better than a blue/black 202. The blue or black 202 crank is fully counterweighted and are better at lower revs, and should develop more torque. All you need is a red block with a rope rear ma |

The dowell is easily removed it is only there to give the timing for the cruddy EST ignition the black carburetted motors had. I was impressed with how much more easily the black crank in my red block spun over it was much smoother as well.

do the black efi motors still use/need the dowell? Is there any advantage in removing it in a black motor??

The black efi motor does have the dowell but it is like the appendix, it is surplus to needs. Presumably the motors were assembled to the point of fitting the intake system and it was not worth the assemblers time to differetiate between injected/non inje

cool, so it isn't going to have an effect on the overall balance or something like that.. will keep it in place to be safe.
