G'day all,
I thought I would change the plugs and leads etc on my wifes car today (EF Falcon), no problems I thought, half an hours work at the most, Well all I can say is F**K ME!!! half a day later after removing half the engine bay to get to the coil pack, which is right down underneath the inlet manifold ,with absolutely bugger all access, and in the process discovering so many little electronic gadgets that I have no idea what they even do, or why they are even needed(just more to go wrong!which one day they inevitably will!),I sat back and reminded myself why I drive an old Holden, Yeah!!!
cheers. Russ.

The moral of the story is that I'll do anything on my HQ, but only check the oil, water and tyres on the VY SS...

Cheers...Dave

Ditto here - with my HQ's I know if I get stuck, I can fix em. I have enough room to climb inside the engine bay. Same with a HD/HR. I can go to Kmart and buy spares at 3pm Sunday. I can and HAVE driven home on 8 cylinders. They are also EMP proof m ie nu

VL's are a good car. They have a nice shape and do drive well.

Just never wash the engine, never drive it on a real hot day, and dont replace a timing belt unless you have tons of tool and tons of time. Otherwise a great little car ! Oh yea carry heap

yes my VL has been a great car for 6 years of owrnership, only letting me down once with a faulty fuel pump. good power and handles well, but like i said in another thread it's falling apart and rusting out...unfortunately not worth fixing :(

As far as I'm concerned the only good VL has no Nissan bits on it, ie 5 Litre.

Maybe the best 6cyl pre VN, but not even in the top 10 if you include the V8's and post VN. They are basically the same body as a VB-VK. The auto box is a weak pig (the turbo one is much stronger). I must admit I have a soft spot for the VL Group A though
