Hi all.

I have a baby seat question. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with a baby seat in the front with a bench seat. I have buckets in my van, but am thinking about putting in a bench seat and using the middle for a baby capsule (for when we need to use the second car etc...) Has anybody done this? Is there enough space to do it? I have a floor shift too, so theres another problem. Would love to hear from anyone whos had this setup.

Cheers, Hainzy

i'd be checking the legality of it, most baby capsuels anchor to the parcel shelf.

how would you safely change gears with a baby capsule (the width of an adults lap but 18"high all round) in the way. i like to see the 1st to 2nd gearchange ;)
i'd definately see an engineer, maybe they could even hook something up behind the bench seat

Mine has only a child seat , I used to have a capsual in a gemini van on the bucket seat attached with a bolt to the rear and normal seat belt but as others have posted I wouldn`t recomend a capsual in the centre (to high) even with an coloum auto steerin

Thanx guys. All advice appreciated. Probably put it on the passenger side then and my girlfriend in the middle. No big macs for her.

The other thing to check is how many people the van is registered for. If it is bucket seats, chances are it is registered to seat two passensgers - possible legal ramifications.

My parents used to have the baby capsule in the back of Dad's (<--- now mine) panelvan and thats how me, and later, my sister got carted around. Don't know about the legality of it but it was secured by some anchors put in the floor.

Yeah its an interesting issue. Ive checked with vicroads, so not sure about the laws for other states but you can have a baby in the front seat, its just not preferred. Apparently most cars after 1977 or so come with anchor points, so I would need to get
