Stromberg Carburettor Removal from a 1981 4.1 crossflow alloy inlet manifold ~ the holding nut between the carby and passenger wheel is easily removed with a 11mm ring spanner. BUT how is the nut between the carby and tappet cover removed ? There is not sufficient room for a 11mm 1/4" drive socket due to the configuration of the side of the carby and there is not enough room for a pipe/box/ring spanner. Is a special spanner required for this application ? Thanking you in advance for your reply.

Hi 6 pack, Thank you for your reply. An open ended spanner can be put on the nut in question but because it is well below the lowest point of the tappet cover the handle of the spanner can not be moved because of the very close proximity of the carby bod

This may be a bit of a long shot but if it's the standard single barrel Stomberg can you undo the 2 screws/allen bolts that hold the main carby (alloy) to the cast iron throttle housing? If so removal of the carby base should be easier with the rest of |
