I was looking at my mates WB with the smaller brake booster and was wondering if it was a simple change to a HZ with std disc front and drum rear??? Would it require a master cylinder change?? This is purely for looks in my engine bay as I'm trying to get a super clean look.

The WB master has the bolts offset, not horizontal like the earlier ones.
I believe the WB master cyl also uses metric threads so you'd have to change your whole braking system to WB.
I'm not sure about any differences to the brake pedal.

Have a look at a 4 wheel disc HZ brake booster. These are smaller and use the HZ style master cylinder. |

The booster is designed for rear disks. It is double diaphragm as I understand it. Won't it cause lockup on the rear drum brakes/

The booster will boost both circuits the same....I think the double diaphram boosters were introduced because 4 wheel discs need more assistance than a disc/drum setup.

That's my point. More assistance to the rear drums = lockup.

That's why they had proportioning valves....
Also, a double diaphram will supply extra boost (vacuum really) to BOTH lots of brakes....fronts as well as backs.
If the brakes are adjusted correctly, both ends should lock almost simultaneously.

Hi Dave I like the sound of extra vacume as I have a custom floor mounted pedal system and the original brake pedal was shortened by an 1" causing a slight increase in braking force, but they have been tested and work correctly. I think the extra boost m

I didn't think the HZ/WB had a proportioning valve I thought it was only the HQ.

Also the change to the pedal will have to be engineered and inspected and they hate brake pedals that have been cut.
