Hi folks,

I think I have Tri issues. Car drives fine, but just of late the idle in traffic is all over the place. Very erratic. Like anywhere from 400-1000 rpm in drive. When u go to neutral it goes smooooth 800rpm per GMH spec.

Now I am thinking maybe a band adjustment, or blocked filter.

Whats the concensus ?

Cheers John

There is some weird sh*t going on here !! Came back this arvo...and then at home it was idling at 1400. It looks like the fuel filter has hardly any fuel at times, the fuel smells funny, and burns with black smoke, timing had drifted too. What in the hell

Try replacing fuel filter, also may have dirt in carb.

if it ain't broke we can improve it.

Sounds like a vacuum problem to me John. Or, MAYBE, gunk in the fuel/carby but mostly vacuum symptoms.

Cheers...Dave

I didn't want to suggest this initially, as you said you had a nice smooth idle in neutral... but run a socket along each of the bolts/nuts on the intake manifold to make sure you don't have an air leak past the gasket that only leaks as you come back do

Hi All,

I found the fault !

It looks like dizzy/points. For some reason not matter how I set the points today they wouldnt adjust. They had drifted out to >22 dwell yet timing remained unchanged. Hmm.

I had a spare dizzy from a later V8 which

Update - problem has also been narrowed down to the breaker plate. It was super wobbly.
