Hi all,
Has anyone out there got a HQ-HZ wagon with a gas tank made to fit the tyre well in a wagon? I ask because I have a Kingswood with the gas tank in the cargo bay and it's a pain as it's always in the way!! I'm wanting to relocate the tank and I've seen the cutdown fuel tanks and gas tanks mounted behind cut through the floor, but I would like a full size petrol tank still and have a gas tank effectively mounted above in the tyre well, sort of like the donut tank in early commodore wagons. Look forward to hearing any replies.
Thanks
Peter

Peter I have not seen one in a HQ to HZ but there is a good chance there will be a donut tank that fits. I have a list of Sprint Gas tanks that is about five years old. It lists a 650 X 220, 240 and 270. They also have a 580 X 220 and a 600 X 240. A

I have one in a VL commodore wagon. It fits in the well, but the cover sits slightly ajar compared to normal. It's about the size of a 205/65/15 tyre, but only has a useable capacity of 40L (total is approx 50L).
Might be worth looking into one, or i |

Hey Peter,
Yes, it can be done. I've seen a tank in the spare wheel well in a HJ station wagon, but didn't take that much notice of it. I couldn't tell you what was done to get it in there.
Cheers,
Hairy-Dude.

Thanks for all the comments, I will discuss with a gas fitter locally. Mick, that 40 litre tank wouldn't have got far feeding a 308 I wouldn't think!! Also it'd probably bounce around in the HZ spare tyre well as it's huge, runs the full width of the ca |

Peter.
You could run 2 of them. There was also a set of bottles you could buy that ran side by side. Each bottle was about the diameter of an oxy bottle, and you ran as many as you wanted. Either way you would end up with the spare mounted vertically w |

Oops sorry, yes it wouldn't have been a lowly old 308!! :) Actually got my eye on a good H series wagon body with a properly setup underfloor gas setup, might grab that if it goes for the right price! Just what I need, some more work, aahh but we love t |

I have what looks like 3 scooba tanks above the petrol tank in my Falcon Wagon 59 litres usable. These are made specifically for Falcon wagons by APA & I believe they also do a twin setup for Range Rovers. Maybe you could adapt one of those tanks Or maybe |
