The vehicle: 1993 VS 5.0 Litre ute

I have one major problem and one that is annoying.

Brief background: Air-conditioner not cooling – compressor clutch dropped in but no cold airflow. Took it to the local expert who topped off the gas and added some dye so we could find the leak if there was one. Drove the thing for approximately 1200K over Christmas/New Year with the aircon running virtually non-stop. Returned to the expert, cast the UV light over compressor, condenser, receiver dryer and associated hoses and fittings. No sign of a leak! We did discover that the thermo fan in front of the condenser was buggered, so I fitted a new Davies-Craig, which seems to cut in and out just as it should. Hooked up the pressure gauges once again and he tells me that the operating pressure is way to high – not sure of exactly what that pressure was though –

Checked the condenser for bugs etcetera, washed it with a pressure hose and it appears free and clear. Next thing the bloke comes up with is that the hydraulic link radiator-cooling fan is possibly the problem and there is not enough airflow to cool both the radiator and condenser. Tried spinning the fan and it meets spec in that it does not spin past about ½ a turn. Took the spec from a new hydraulic hub box, which specifies the thing is ok unless it freewheels 1½ to 2 revolutions.

So, about now I am pulling my hair out with no bloody idea where to go next. Can you please help?

The second hassle is that I think the evaporator drain tube is blocked and allowing condensation to soak the carpet. Poked my head into a workshop manual to locate the tube with the idea of un-blocking it, but cannot for the life of me find where the thing comes out of the cabin/chassis when comparing the manual pic to the real thing. Can you shed some light on this one too please?

Thanks in advance for any and all solutions

As far as the drain goes, there's 2, 1 om each side of the sump of the HVAC box in the car, and they are little rubber tubes that go through the top corners of the trans tunnel on either side.

Without pulling apart the dash to get to the tops of them,
Cheers,

Mick

I ran the thing up on some ramps yesterday and went looking for the drain tubes ... no joy at all ... can you narrow down the area that I should be looking in? The trans is an auto and takes up a lotta room under there :-) Maybe I need to get it on a h
