Posted on behalf of an email i recieved, can anybody help?

Hi,

A friend suggested I contact you re my Ford Explorer (97 UP Limited) We purchased it new, it has been a great car, is comming up for 200K, has toweed a 2.5 ton caravan quite easly and, more efficiantly than the bigger L/C & Nissan.

The suspension remains as delivered, standard except for air bags fitted to the rear leaf springs to carry the 250 KG tow ball weight of the C/van, this model has the hight adjustable Monro air shock set up and, we find the 50 mm hight adjustment excellant for our use however the shockers as dampers have always been awful, we do not want to lose this system and to this end have 2 questions;

can the shockers be rebuilt to a better Aussie standard?
or,
is it viably possible to replace rear Monro air shockers with say Koni shockers and then connect air hose to air our bags (air bags are recomended to 100 PSI)?

We would appreciate your advice or redirection for answers to this problem.

Cheers for now, Alan & Wilma
