i have a stcok standard wb v8 ute and have just had the exhaust replaced on it. it has extractors the muffler they put on was more free flowing. but now the idle is rough and it seems to miss. what is going on??

What engine ? What pipe diam was it before ? What diameter is it now ? How many pipes, singles or doubles ?


On first glance a loss of back pressure !

standard 308 2 1/2 inch single system. the only thing that was changed was the muffler

Some mufflers have an S type baffle or blocking plate inside that slows the airflow. If you have gone to straight through muffler, so it sounds great, there may be next to zero backpressure.


As all you have changed is the muffler it stands to reason
