Guys and Girls I am about to fit up the A/C to my HK 307, am an interested to find out what I will have to do to run the new gas as the old R12 you can't get anymore. I want to run the old Fridgidair compressor as I have the correct brackets for it.Can they be modified to suit and also who can do it, SE Melbourne Suburbs? I am also looking for the black plastic grille to go in the RHS of the GM underdash A/C unit. If a monaro had under dash AC fitted as an option was the tacho still fitted to the console Thanks Ted

Hi Ted.
If A/Cond was optioned on an HK/HT/HG Monaro GTS, the tacho was deleted & the little emblem was fitted as per Premiers & Kingswoods etc.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Any compressor can run the system as long as it has the right capacity.
There are several other mods for AC HKs, the washer bottle is the Belmont type with pump built in and the unit on top of the wiper motor is replaced with a white plastic cap.

The old to new gas is no worries as all you need to do is have the reciever dryer changed to suit R134A, there are still some mobs around with the R12 but you may have to hunt around. Everything else will work on R12 or R134A.

The propane gas a/c is ok for the old units. A lot cheaper (about $90) the percentage of gas is only about 5 % so little danger of explosion as some scare mongers were putting out there is only about 1 1/2 lb of gas in the whole system so 5% of that is no
