intermitent over heating changed the radiator new 1 done the head a while ago its a 3.9 cpi driving us nuts cant find the prob its on gas to any idias ?
just been told by wife its geting to the non itermitet stage geting worse plus is real bad going up a hills

Hi, I had similar problems with my EA. If the radiator is new we can discount that as a cause. Did you fit a new thermostat when you fitted the radiator (genuine Ford not aftermarket) the aftermarket ones seem to give a bit of trouble. I know you said

thermostat is new gen ford to we tried 3 dif 1s from ford they didnt make any diff the only thing i havent pulled off yet is the water pump but i been thinking bout that so yeah think mite go do that to elimanate that let you know later

This may sound simple, but have you made sure that you bled all the air out of the cooling system? After fitting the new radiator and filling her up, you will need to open up the valve on the thermostat whilst car is running, to get all the air out of the

yes know about the bleeding done all that still havent had the chance to pull the water pump off yet guna try to get to that 1 today

Sounds like the water pump. The impellers might be cactus. I guess the only way to tell is rip the thing off which is what you are going to do anyway. Good luck.

ok chek water pump its ok reflushed it all and put it all bak together and its still doing it wife ses to when she puts heater on its not to bad unless she puts her foot down ther temp goes back up this has got me stuft now

Hi, This is a long shot but how old is your exhaust system? We used to own a Corolla that suddenly started overheating and after checking everything I could think of it turned out to be a collapsed catalytic converter.

not sure on the pipes we have had the car for 2 years but yesterday i started playing around with the thermostat it had a 91 in it i tried a 88 and it wasnt so bad with a mech temp gauge im starting to think it maby guna be 1 of them basted engins the tem

Have you soted out the problem yet? If not, is the temp OK at an idle? If so, it could be the waterpump inlet hose sucking in.

The first thing u need to do is give it a TK check this checks for exhaust gas in the coolant system. Take it to your local workshop to perform this. At my workshop we dont charge for this service. Make sure u run the car on petrol for a good 10 kms befor

I had similar problem, it turned out to be the clutch fan needed replacing, remember when undoing old one it is left hand thread.
Repco sell these on the package it does recommend to also fit new water pump at the same time.
