Hello all,
Need some advice on tuning a single barrel Stromberg with the adjustable main jet. I don't know what order to tune the damn thing, Do I adjust the mixture first or the Jet??? Now I know that the basic setting for the mixture screw is 2/5 turns out, but I can't seem to find the right mix on the jet side. The car either gets bogged down low, like on take off, or around the 2500-3000 RPM range when holding revs it starts to spit and cough.. Is the tuning of the jet an exact science???

Cheers james..

Hi jimbobute.

These adjustable main jets are a pain in the **se. The main jet, mainly controls the fuel mixture at wide open throttle. This is really only properly achieved on a dyno.

The other screw you are referring to is the IDLE mixture screw it
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

I dunno. I had one in my EH, it worked pretty good. Although my father was handy at tuning.Actually reminds me I have a brand new one in my spare parts box that i never got around to fitting. Should put it on ebay and see what happens.

Thanks guys, I'm not sure if I like the sound of burning my valves to adjust the tap, but thanks Dr Terry. Might change it out for fixed jets again..

cheers james
