I was at the campbelltown swap on sunday in SA , there was a HQ coupe for sale on a trailer a real pig too! anyway I checked out the ID plates , all plates had been off the car and replaced with incorrect rivets, the skinny tag said 80337 stating it was a base 6 the large plate riveted to the other side said 80469 being a kingswood 8cyl.
I hope the guy didn`t sell it loser. While I was looking at the plates I told a couple of interested guys that the plates do not match the body style or model they quickly retreated as I did.
I guess its buyer beware , so do the homework first.

No. Take them off. Not required on a HQ. All you need is a chassis with a chassis number. What I was getting at though was say you had a fu$%#d HQ coupe shell complete with ID plates and chassis. Say you found a better shell, and used it with your ID plat

I didn't even bother looking at that coupe. It looked pretty dodgy from 50 feet away. lol

I did have a brief look at the HT/HG coupe that was there though. I've actually forgotten exactly what it was but it's currently also on ebay. the reddy/maroo

The problem is that if it has been stolen and the plates swapped over you could do all the restoration work and then have the coppers knocking on your door accusing you of receiving stolen property, the least that would happen is you would lose the car an

Are you sure about that? I took the Wifes VW Beetle in to VicRoads on Tuesday to change engine number details and they were not going to change the engine number until they found a compliance plate on the vehicle. I knew it was under the front bonnet behi

In NSW you don't need any ID plates to register a HQ at least. Seen plenty of tonners registered with none. I know of one that was a nice WB cab without ID, and a brand new NOS WB chassis. Passed rego fine.
