hi guys

I may be getting a t400 gearbox for the van.

I know that these are really for big blocks and suck extra power from the drivetrain compared to the t350.

My question is how much extra power do they use? I want as much as possible hitting the treads and are there any other negatives or benefits compared to the t350?

Also the box is from a H series ute and as I have a H series van and the same diff etc as the cr the box came out of im assuming it will bolt straight up. Please correct me if im wrong (my engine is a turbo pattern)

Cheers

Was your originally a TH400? If not you will also need a TH400 tailshaft out of a 308 TH400 HJ-HZ ute, van, wagon or statesman. If yours was also not a TH400 you will need the shifter, coolant lines, x-member and speedo cable (unless it was already a TH50

if you can't use/find a t400 box crossmember you can modify a std. trimatic/aussie4spd one by simply lengthening the box mount holes back a bit. as Byron says the speedo cable + std. floor shifter will work ok, the other bits (fluid lines, yoke etc.) will

I've found the easiest way to get a TH400 X-member for a 60/70/80 body style is to get a Statesman one, cut the ends off and drill 4 x holes. Use bolts and nuts instead of set screws to hold it in.
