Hey all

I have a HQ 202 with a standard banjo diff.
It has covered 290,000 kms and I can just detect a whine starting to develop.
What is the best way to fix this?
I do not want to disguise it by putting some fancy oil in the diff but want to return it to normal running.
Can you have them reconditioned like you can a motor?
Sorry if this question seems basic , but I have never had to touch one.

Yes, you can have them rebuilt. I recently had my motor and box out, and had them both rebuilt, which only leaves the diff. That's the only part that leaks oil now!! The gearbox specialist told me it's roughly $500-$600 for a complete rebuild of my ban

the banjos are easy to get out and replace, and simple to adjust. Get a shop manual and check it out, i put off doing diffs for yeares because I was frightened of them but I pulled my EH diff and adjusted it by the book, it was a breeze. Salisburys are

Could also be a universal joint (rear on tailshaft).
