Can anyone give me an informed and factual recommendation for oil for my V2 LS1?
Holden recommend a 10W-30 in SG, SH, SJ or later spec. They do say you can use 15W-40 or 20W-50 if stuck.
I have heard lots of problems with LS1's and Mobil 1 5W-50 and even the newer 10W-30 version. Some people have reported good things about Castrol EDGE 5W-30. I've normally used Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 but not in the Monaro yet.
A lot of LS1 owners are reporting good things about Castrol 5W-40 Magnatec. Maybe 5000kM/6month changes with filter using this oil is a better prospect than 10,000kM with Synthetic?
Any tips on how to change over to full synthetic from mineral (that's what's in it now). |

This is a hot topic on LS1 web sites. I owned a VYII with a LS1. Nice motor sh%t car.
I ran Mobil Synth S 10W-40 in my car from day one. I mean I got the car home from the dealer and dropped the oil and put in the Mobil Synth S.

since new. i have always used HPR 10 in my LS1.i have been using Penrite for years. With as many kms i do. i havent found a problem and i change my oil every 10 000 kms.
