does anyone know whats involved in converting a hq, v8 coupe to a 9 inch out of a hk brougham. (brakes, tailshaft, uni's etc.)

For a start the HK back end is shorter so you might have rego problems.

Even in Perth if we start playing with brakes the rego people want to know about it and engineer it.
As far as the rear axle is concerned, I believe the HK etc is narrower than the HQ so you may have problems getting the wheels to fit without modifyi

Also if you do modifications without approval you risk losing everything you own and will ever own if you have an accident and run into the lord mayors Ferrari and the insurance wipes you.

Hi Guys.


The difference in length (drum to drum) between an HK & an HQ is negligible. The main difference,to answer ed's question, is that the HK diff housing sits on leaf springs, whereas the HQ diff has 4 trailing arms & 2 coil springs. Al

Well there you go I thought the difference was about 50mm.
On the other hand no real harm is done with a narrower rear track apart from the body clearance whereas wider rear track can be dangerous as the rear wheels can go off the edge of the bitumen and
