Ok Guys I had a go at doing the rear drum brakes on the hz I new they needed new cylinders so decided to give it a go. I removed the old Cylinders and they were cactus full of grit and **** and they appeared to be fairly stuck so new ones were put on. I basically put the new pads on exactly the way the old ones come off. Just a question on the pads does it matter which way they go as the left had the short pad which is primary closer to the front and the other wheel had the primary on the rear closest to the back I just put them on exactly the way the old ones came off. I bleeded them spun the wheel pressed the brakes and the wheel stopped so is this it have I successfully done it or what have I forgot.

Also you HAVE to change them because the balance will be upset, one will grab more than the other and especially on a wet road or panic stop you are in real danger of spearing off into the car on the other side of the road or into a tree on the side of th

The long shoes go to the rear on a self energising drum brake because they do most of the work. When you apply the brake the front shoe contacts the drum and tries to rotate with it. Both shoes are joined at the bottom by a floating link, not a solid mo
