Here's a "what are they thinking ?" I ring the state inspection people about changing my engine in my HR van (i have a 179) to a stock 202. They say I can't do it unless I upgrade the front brakes to disk ( i have HT discs already ) and then have a full inspection. ( we don't have annual's in SA ). BUT....... I can fit a 186 even with a turbo or a supercharger and all I need to do is just have a engine i.d. check at the local rego place by a desk jockey. Gotta love those pre 1972 adr's. The official info that was sent to me confirms this. I makes me laugh.
There's no pain at all. When I'm Surfing !!

You cant just drop on a turbo or super charger legaly to your 186/179 without it under going a full roadwothy inspection in SA, theres more than a 20% increase in HP, & with the cubes multiplied by they're formula used you end up with an engine with a cap

Try putting a 179 in an EJ in Vic. They may be identical mechanically to an EH in every way, but they came out with a 138, so that needs an engineers report. Ok to fit a 149 red motor though. |
