Hi , can anyone tell me what size distributor shaft i need by the engine numbers please? if it is possible. I am told the older engines had a different size shaft.I have no idea what the engine came out of but was told it might be an xy fairlane ,numbers are JH37VLL - F2083K (maybe the 2 is a Z not quite sure) Thanks in advance

engnine is out of a Fairlane but the V has me confused. If it's out of a XY era car should be a K or an L after the JH37. Might pay just to double check as V is 1997 going by the info sitting in front of me.

Thanks for the reply, hate to be a pain but i gave you the wrong info after cleaning the engine i can now read it better. JH37UU 12083K Kinda like i said at first but more than enuff to confuse .I know of a mustang site to decode numbers but not of a a

ZH Fairlane, June, 1978. Hope that helps a bit. Would have been a bosch electronic dizzy from memory.

only 5.8L got the electronic in '78. 4.9L still had points, both were early style blocks.
